The paradox of empowerment and dependency in the geopolitics of the Middle East: Deconstructing the functional perspective of the Mecca Defense Alliance (2026) Under the umbrella of the US acting administration
Study summary (Abstract)
This study examines the security architecture developed in the Middle East region following the signing of the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement” in 7 August 2026 Between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Shar et al., 2026). The research objective revolves around analyzing the “paradox of strategic authorization” practiced by the United States to manage the region through the formula of “strong regional agents.” (Mearsheimer, 2025). The study assumes that this alliance is not an expression of a strategic separation from the West, but rather a restructuring of the American-designed defense agency contract to share burdens and prior control of supply chains and cyber codes for the alliance’s arsenals. (ozcelik, 2026).
The paper seeks, through a rigorous scientific methodology, to monitor the underlying sources of conflict in the alliance as a result of the conflicting national agendas of its members. In its entries, the study explores the motives for China and Russia’s mobilization towards the long-term American plan to exploit supra-national geopolitical ties and ties to booby-trap Eurasia’s backyard, reviewing the impact of the 2018 election cycles.
